TIMELINE
1950s - 2000s
1930: Giannis Kitantzis arrives from Naxos, settles in Kifissia, and begins cultivating in small greenhouses, in the same area where the headquarters of KITANTZIS PLANTS S.A. is still located. His wife, Paraskevi Katzilieri, also from a family of florists, is dynamically by his side.
1960: Their son, Stelios, shares the same passion for flowers from a young age. A man with vision and enthusiasm, he observes needs, takes calculated risks that pay off, and devises ways to increase production and business development. The company’s activities expand further with the establishment of facilities in Marathon, including greenhouses and outdoor plant production.
1980: The company is on an upward trajectory. Supported by a strong capital base and low borrowing, it invests in strong partnerships, values, and actions that now identify its name with floriculture in Greece. At the same time, it focuses on continuous participation in and organization of exhibitions, regular educational missions abroad, and publications in industry newspapers and magazines.
1986: A significant milestone for the company is the establishment of Hellas Plants BV, a subsidiary company in Aalsmeer, Netherlands, next to the central flower market. Exports rapidly increase, with a remarkable impact on the floriculture economy in Greece.
2000s - 2020s
2003: Stelios’ sons, Konstantinos and Giannis Kitantzis, take over the company’s reins. Having inherited the same passion for nature and greenery, they listen to market needs and, guided by the triptych of Innovation-Teamwork-Respect for the environment and people, solidify KITANTZIS PLANTS S.A.’s leading position in the Greek market.
2010: Consolidation of the activities of KITANTZIS PLANTS S.A. and KITANTZIS AGRICULTURAL SUPPLIES with the aim of a fully vertically integrated business that includes a complete range of products.
2012-2018: A period of crisis during which KITANTZIS PLANTS S.A. maintained its dynamic presence in the market while simultaneously developing its production unit in MARATHON.
2012: Assignment and completion of the first Green Project. Building – Karela Office Park (Cosmote offices)
2018- 2025: Investments and new collaborations that complete the portfolio, while simultaneously leading major emblematic Green Projects.
2025: Despite the economic crisis of recent years, with methodical and careful business moves, the company achieves further growth with the acquisition of an additional 35 acres in Marathon for the construction of new greenhouses.
